The challenges to make Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) a reality in academic environments were discussed in a workshop organized by the NUCLEUS project on November 16, 2018, at Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro Ciência Viva in Lisbon (Portugal). ReSEED was represented by its Principal Investigator, Dulce Freire.
RRI is a key action of the “Science with and for Society” objective in Horizon 2020 programme. According to the European Commission, RRI implies that societal actors, including researchers, work together in order to better align both the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society. Public engagement is essential and ReSEED is committed, since its beginning, to the goal of enabling easier access to the scientific results in every step of the project.
NUCLEUS project focuses on the development of a “New Understanding of Communication, Learning and Engagement in Universities and Scientific Institutions”. It counts on a consortium of 24 international partners and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The main goal is to find practical ways to overcome institutional barriers RRI.
