ReSEED had an excellent opportunity for exchanging experiences and learning from local perspectives in the round-table and science café “Food: the human diet”. It took place on January 18, 2019, at the Biodiversity Research Centre from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) of Cluj Napoca (Romania).

ReSEED’s Principal Investigator Dulce Freire met Harvest, led by Amanda Henry (Leiden University, The Netherlands), and PlantCult, headed by Tania Valamoti (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece). All projects are funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and promote historical analysis on agriculture and food.

When discussing culinary practices through history, the human diet and its connections to the environment, every project contributed to the others. Foremost, it was a chance to hear from the audience, with relevant questions and comments made by students and professors from diverse fields such as psychology, food engineering, veterinary and agronomy.

The event was organized by USAMV Cluj-Napoca and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EUMINI) and co-funded under the ERC and ERC = Science2 project of European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
